Cover Sheet Competition Guide
Calling all students!
Calling all students! On behalf of Pearson, we are thrilled to be launching our fourth annual Home Cooking Skills competition!
If you are a student aged 14-19 years and you are studying at a school or college in the UK we’d like you to get involved. You don’t need to be studying for the Pearson BTEC in Home Cooking Skills course or be an expert chef; we want everyone to have a go!
The winners will be chosen by Jamie Oliver personally, and will win a meal for five people at your closest Jamie’s Italian restaurant as well as a personalised signed book and the winning entry will be posted on Jamie Oliver’s blog!
Don’t forget, we have two categories for winners and runners-up: one category for individual entries and another for group entries (max of 4 people).
Here’s what you need to do:
Design, plan and cook a brilliant meal for a specific scenario from the three options given (below). The meal should include at least two dishes or courses, and include details of a drink to accompany the food. You should think about the specific requirements of the scenario and show explicitly in the meal design how you have catered for these requirements. For example, if you’ve sourced locally grown food, or if you’ve had to prepare a meat free dish because you’re catering for vegetarians - tell us that!
We want to see learners across the UK really embracing the Jamie Oliver ethos and base their entries on healthy delicious ingredients with inspiration for their dishes from around the world.
Get your kids excited by food!
What are the scenario options?
YOU ARE CATERING FOR A DINNER PARTY FOR FRIENDS AND/OR FAMILY, BY PREPARING TRADITIONAL DISHES FROM A CUISINE OF YOUR CHOICE.
YOU ARE RUNNING A FOOD STALL AT A SCHOOL FETE.
YOU HAVE TAKEN OVER THE RUNNING OF THE SCHOOL CANTEEN AND WILL BE SERVING LUNCH TO THE WHOLE SCHOOL.
You have until 30th April 2015 to submit your entry to Pearson, which you can supply electronically or by post. Your entry must include a Competition Entry Cover Sheet which should be completed by your teacher.
We’ve created a Competition Guide for your teacher which includes all the details about entering and outlines the criteria which you’ll be judged against:
If your teacher hasn’t heard about the competition yet, send this link on to them and persuade them to let you get started!
